MALAYSIA

Diving and Exploring the South China Seas

The Malaysian government is actively supporting and promoting it’s diving industry. This coupled with fast growing group of local enthusiasts has resulted in many new areas opening up.

Malaysia offer the choice of diving off the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia or some famous site on Borneo (East Malaysia) such as Sipadan Island and the once inaccessible Luconia Shoals. Our vessels are the first commercial liveaboards with regular departures to explore these remote world class dive sites which extend into the Spratly’s group of islands.

Luconia Shoals
The Luconia shoals (divided in North and South Luconia Shoals) lie off the North-Western coast of Sarawak over an area of several hundred kilometer in the South China Sea and can only be reached by liveaboard vessel. The Luconia shoals lie in deeper water and visibility is much better than at dive sites close to the shore.

South Luconia Shoals: You dive mostly on walls or drop-offs between 12 and 40m and the chance to see large pelagics like sharks, dogtooth tunas, rainbow runners and snappers is very good. Reefs are very nicely covered with corals, gorgonian fans and sponges.

Dive sites: Fan Drop, Surgeon Route, Eastern Wall, Rock Hard Drift and Western Wall.

North Luconia Shoals:
Wall diving from 12 to 40m on nice coral formations covered with hard and soft corals with barracudas, snappers, tunas and with sometimes manta rays.

Dive sites: Solomon Backyard, Manta Avenue, Neptune Valley (Hayes Reef region) and Die Hard, White Tip Cruise, Coral Garden (Aitken Reef region)

Night diving is also very rewarding in Luconia. 1.8 metre long Moray Eels can be seen creeping from their holes in search of food, together with sea stars, sea urchins and coral fish.

Our vessels also cover the East and West Coast of Malaysia mainly to the offshore World Class deep wrecks and exciting dive sites. We are the specialist in organizing and conducting exploratory and technical dive expeditions in these regions.
