vessel is built of steel and aluminium. The Mata
Ikan is registered in Mongolia and powered by
two Catepillar 276 horse power diesel engines,
she is capable of sea speeds of
9-10 knots.
The “Mata
Ikan” is well suited for expedition
cruising, and has a large fly-bridge and open
deck resting area. She is complemented by
a tender boat which enable landings on island
visits for nature and wildlife viewing opportunities
in otherwise inaccessible areas. A dinning
saloon, serving Asians and European cuisine,
also serves as a lecture room.
The vessel is also used for research and survey
purposes. She is equipped with computerized
navigation system, GPS, Fish Finder, Side
scan Sonar, Color Sonar, underwater communication
units and video equipment. |

Accommodations
includes four air conditioned cabins with
four single berths (max. 16 paxs) All rooms
are configured for 4 people however you may
request for 2 person sharing at twin share
rates. She has a range of approximately 1000
nautical miles and 7 tons of fresh water capacity.
A dive elevator has been installed specially
to cater for divers to board with ease after
the dive. |
Scuba Diving
Mata Ikan is available year round for film, research
and dive charter excursions. All divers will be
able to experience with a knowledgeable dive guide,
greatly familiar with local conditions, reefs and
wreck sites. On board we have two air compressor
. Nitrox and Trimix (only upon request) are available.
There are also 30 single dive cylinders, 12 sets
doubles, 10 stage cylinders, weights and weight
belts. Other dive equipment including limited rebreathers,
dive computers and underwater scooters are available
for rent. We will be able to enhance your visit
into a completely unforgettable experience.
Expedition Participation
M V Mata Ikan is used for expedition projects
such as Project Asiatic and undersea educational
trips throughout the season. Project Asiatic,
which received much media coverage including local,
regional and even CNN, was first carried out in
1997.
Mata Ikan was also used on many internationally
acclaimed dive expedition. We welcome dive clubs,
special interest groups, and suggestions for research
expeditions. We encourage early bookings and prefer
reservations at least 3 months in advance. However
some dates may still be open months before a proposed
trip so please check out with our office to help
you make special arrangement and to tailor make
your dream trip a reality.
